Center for Climate and Energy Solutions–a new weblink

C2ES is the successor to the Pew Center on Global Climate Change. It’s a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization funded by support from philanthropic, corporate and individual contributors. While the issue of climate change may still be regarded as myth by some, there should be little disagreement that fossil fuel resources are finite. Hence, managing the switch to other cost-efficient energy sources is critical. This group works in conjunction with other groups, business and government alike to address the problems of climate change and to find viable economic solutions to the expanding need for energy in an environmentally sound manner. As their website says:

At C2ES, we believe that ensuring safe, reliable, affordable energy – while protecting the global climate – is a paramount challenge of the 21st century. We see signs of progress around the world. But far greater effort is needed if we are to keep these challenges from becoming true crises. Now more than ever, we need committed voices with the expertise to cut through complexity and craft innovative solutions; the independence to separate fact from fiction; and the credibility to work with all sides to build common ground.

Here is how C2ES contributes to this critical effort:

A Reliable Source – We provide timely, impartial information and analysis on the scientific, economic, technological and policy dimensions of climate and energy challenges. See, for instance, our resources on carbon pollution standards [for power plantsNOTE: those standards were removed  during the Trump administration] and on extreme weather and climate change.

Working Together – We bring together business, the environmental community, other stakeholders, and policymakers to achieve common understandings and consensus solutions. Examples include our collaborative efforts to accelerate the deployment of plug-in electric vehicles and our broad coalition supporting the use of captured carbon dioxide in enhanced oil recovery.

Concrete Action – We work with members of our Business Environmental Leadership Council and others to take action on the ground. Our award-winning Make an Impact program helps employees and consumers save energy and money and reduce their carbon footprints.

Innovative Policy – We work closely with policymakers and stakeholders to promote pragmatic, effective policies at the state, national and international levels. Our rich web resources help both experts and citizens understand the issues, track government efforts, and contribute to the policy process.
